300 kg of drugs have been seized in Gujarat, which is said to be about Rs 1,800 crore. Seized drugs can occur methamfetamine. The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and the Coast Guard have caught drugs on the night of 12-13 April in the sea of Arabian Sea, 190 km from Porbandar.
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) deployed its ships and aircraft for the operation. As the suspected Pakistani boat was stopped, its drivers escaped by throwing the drugs into the sea. The Coast Guard later recovered drugs from water.
Significantly, Gujarat is now becoming an important route of drug smuggling. In April 2024 last year, ICG caught 86 kg drugs (price of 600 crores) near Porbandar. In February 2024, the Navy and NCB seized 3300 kg of drugs, priced at Rs 1300 to 2000 crore.
